Batik is a distinctive feature of
the Malay fine arts and culture. It has grown to claim a place in the

Traditionally, craftsmen used a
process of waxing and dyeing the cloth to produce vibrant batik designs. In
early days, dots were used to compose the patterns. The technques have since
evolved and now include computer-generated designs. Motifs are inspired by
flora and fauna among other forms of Nature, and by geometrical shapes.
